Welcome to GO GREEN..BE GREEN..GREEN LIVING EXPLORED

Within this blog we will explore the hints, tips and techniques of living green in our own personal lives.

We are going to take a more conservative approach to Green Living. No, we don't have to become good little Republicans! We just need to take personal responsibility for ourselves and our community, and not re lie on the government to save the day.

Please, Please, Please!! There will be NO finger pointing and name calling here. There are 100's of other blogs and websites that have that covered. Finger pointing and name calling may make us feel good for the moment, but it has never helped solve one problem.

We will be helping each other to live the green life as best as possible. In turn we can help or friends, family and community. One little step at a time will make a big difference. So lets get started.

Thai King is Dead and WTC Nuclear Demolition!

Dear Recipients,

The King of Thailand has been dead since about the end of 2008. The current King of Thailand is a fake one. The Government of Thailand does not dare to announce his death because it will put Thailand in great trouble. The King of Thailand was keen on photography and he has been seen using his outdated Canon G9 camera even as late as 2012. In addition, his double forgot to remove his watch and appeared to be wearing two watches in the public. These were big mistakes. In addition, Mr. Dimitri Khalezov knew of the King's death from a close friend of the King's body guard. Visit thaikingisdead dot com or download the file at www dot mediafire dot com/download/3b7n1h1mw59lu4c/RT3(new) dot zip. Be quick, the links may not last long.

Mr. Dimitri Khalezov is an important researcher and witness to the 9/11 event. In fact, he was a nuclear intelligence officer in the former Soviet Union. He testifies that WTC 1, 2 and 7 were demolished by three underground thermonuclear devices during the 9/11 event. As a matter of fact, there were large cavities found at ground zero (point of nuclear explosion in all English dictionaries printed prior to 2002) and tens of thousands of first responders and local Manhattan residents have suffered from cancers as a result of exposure to this radiation. Google "Dimitri Khalezov" and visit 911thology dot com or 911-truth dot net. There are videos and pdf files available for your research. Don't miss them.

The Thai Police and Judges have been warned not to touch Dimitri in 2012. However, they did not listen to his warning. Dimitri has been framed by the Thai Police for allegedly using and making fake passports, however he is innocent. On May 1st, 2014, he was sentenced to 1 year in prison by the Thai Supreme Court. The Thai officials were warned seriously multiple times to release Dimitri and make compensation to him for their wrong doings. Otherwise, his friends will publish this damaging information - the King of Thailand died. Now, the deadline has passed and the high ranking Thai officials have yet to respond. As Dimitri is a man of word, his friends have no choice but to execute his will accordingly. In turn, the current Government of Thailand will be punished.

The world is cruel to Dimitri. He is the one who has the back bone to stand up and disclose the truth about the 9/11 event so clearly. It turns out that very few people understand and accept his explanation. The main stream media is ignoring the truth about 9/11 which is much more important than Snowden's case. Now, he is in prison. Nobody speaks for him. So, please help this upright person - Dimitri Khalezov. Tell your friends and relatives about the nuclear demolition of the WTC during the 9/11 event. This is an injustice that Dimitri has suffered in Thailand. The death of the Thai King must be known so that the Thai people can free themselves from the current corrupt and illegitimate military government.

In fact, this email has been sent to over one hundred million of recipients. Do not be afraid to forward it as much as possible.

Furthermore, we have created an online petition to ask United Nation Human Right Council for help. Please sign it.

Take action now! The truth will set you free!

Living Green 365: Season's Green-ings

Having trouble viewing this email? View it as a Web page.

Living Green 365

Season's green-ings

holiday waste

Between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day, added food waste, shopping bags, packaging, wrapping paper, bows and ribbons add up to an additional 1 million tons a week to the nation's garbage piles.

This holiday season consider a new tradition--one that creates less waste, less stress, and more memories.

The idea list

Lessons. A lot of people would like to try new things, but won't spend the money on themselves. A gift certificate might be just the item for someone who would like to begin a new hobby or polish the skills they have already learned. Perhaps you have can even teach them one of your special talents, like how to cook a family recipe.

Time and energy.  Friends or relatives may value help with snow shoveling, vacuuming, or organizing as a gift. Try our downloadable gift certificates as a way to present your gift.

Reused items. Many gifts can be purchased second-hand. Look at Hennepin County's Choose to Reuse directory and ReUse Minnesota for a list of shops. To help you find the perfect present,  choose a shop that specializes in one type of reuse, like kids stuff or sports gear.

Hand made or up-cycled items. This is a spin on the reused idea, but includes artsy, unique and personal touches. You can tackle your own projects or look to local shops.

  • Find shops that sell collectibles, vintage wear, or antiques
  • Gift hand-knit or home-sewn items
  • Create a book of family recipes

Experiences. There are endless possibilities here. A few to get you started:

Living green items. Help others in their living green journey. Ideas include:

Furoshiki

Gift wrapping

Did you know that our national annual trash from gift-wrap and shopping bags totals 4 million tons? And did you know that if every family just reused two feet of holiday ribbon, the 38,000 miles of ribbon saved could tie a bow around the entire planet? This year, why not try a new way of wrapping that is elegant, fun, and green? Try Furoshiki!

More ways to reduce holiday waste

  • Carry reusable shopping bags with you when you go holiday shopping
  • Select  reusable batteries for electronics, toys and other gifts
  • Recycle old or broken holiday lights and replace with LED lights
  • Encourage the giving of homemade gifts, charitable donations, secondhand goods, experiences, time, by listing your ideas on the So Kind Registry
  • Consider the life-cycle of a product before purchasing. Was it produced locally, or thousands of miles away? Is it durable? Is it energy- or water-efficient, made of recycled materials, or recyclable?

What is your favorite gift to give or receive?

Colleen

Breakfast treat of the month. "Several years in a row I gave my grandparents a one-year "breakfast treat of the month." Once a month I made sweet bread, muffins, or coffee cake and brought it to their house. It ensured we would get over there for a visit."--Colleen

Top-10 book list. "My grandma and I share a love of reading. So last year I put together a "Top 10" list of books that I've read and enjoyed and thought that she too would enjoy. I did buy her one of the books, but suggested that she get the remaining books through the library."--Brian

Phyllis

A special experience. "Our granddaughter reads and reads and loves to write stories. We gave her a week-long summer writing camp at the Loft in Minneapolis. She thought she was so cool. Other people might like concert tickets, a cooking class, or a membership to a museum."--Phyllis

Jar of love. "My son gave me an empty food jar filled with little notes. Each note listed an activity that he'd do with me. He included experiences like bike ride, canoe, cross country skiing, see a movie, and go to a park. What could be better?"--Madalyn

Madalyn

Felted potholders and coasters. "I make potholders and coasters out of old wool sweaters by felting them in the washing machine and cutting them out. The potholders are nice and thick. You can cut out the coasters in lots of shapes." --Theresa

Living Green 365: Lead-free hunting

Lead-Free Hunting

Deer hunting season (firearms) launches the second weekend of November in Minnesota —practically a holiday for many residents! Hunting is a physical and social activity for a lot of Minnesotans, and an affordable way to provide food for one's table. Hunting also provides economic benefits for communities and businesses in the state.

Unfortunately, the lead ammunition that is commonly used in deer hunting can be toxic to bald eagles and other wildlife scavengers as well as to humans. Lead is a neurotoxin that has been banned in the U.S. from gasoline, household paint, and other products. It is particularly hazardous to raptors like bald eagles, which are known to eat the lead-containing animal remains that hunters leave behind.

Copper: A Non-toxic Alternative

Jeff Ledermann and his family have been deer hunting on family property near Alexandria for decades. "As I became more aware of the research about lead in venison and that my daughters were possibly being exposed to lead in our venison sausage, my family and I made the switch to copper slugs and bullets," he noted. "Copper is slightly more expensive, but it is well worth the investment knowing that my family won't have to worry about lead exposure."

Lead ammunition can fragment and spread widely in its target. As a result, deer meat can contain lead particles and dust that are not easily detectable or removable. These fragments can pose a health risk to people (pregnant women and children are especially vulnerable) and wildlife.

Jeff Ledermann and his daughter

Good Things to Know about Copper Ammunition

  • Copper ammo is considered to be a nontoxic, practical alternative to lead ammunition.
  • Unlike lead, copper bullets stay in one piece and don't fragment or shatter upon impact.
  • Copper ammunition is very accurate and effective at achieving results.
  • Though not all retailers currently sell copper ammo, its availability is growing. Ask your local stores to stock copper ammunition if they don't sell it currently.

If you're a hunter, make the switch this year. If you don't hunt but have friends or family who do, encourage them to give copper a "shot". You'll be doing yourself, your family, and Minnesota wildlife a huge service!

copper ammo

Additional Information & Resources

  • For a 2012 article on copper ammunition in Minnesota Whitetales, a publication of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association (MDHA), DNR's Carrol Henderson and then-MDHA Executive Director, Mark Johnson, interviewed eight hunters—all of whom had switched from using lead to copper ammo. The hunters were asked for their feedback on copper ammunition performance, their reasons for switching from lead to copper, and their recommendations for other hunters.

Community events and resources

Come explore the complex relationship between pollinators and plants that ultimately affects people at Pollinators3: What You Need to Know and How to Make a Difference, a three-part series at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. The first in the series, Plants & People, takes place on November 6th, 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Do it Green! Minnesota invites you to kick off the holiday season with its 9th Annal Green Gifts Fair on Saturday, November 22, 10AM - 5PM at Global Market, located at Lake Street and 10th Avenue in Minneapoils.

Over 80 local, eco-friendly artists and businesses will exhibit at the event, which will also include an eco-fashion show, holiday food samples, kids' activities, and demos. Attendees can also pick up a FREE copy of the 2015 Do it Green! Directory--an all-in-one resource for local, sustainable, and green merchants, grocers, retailers, contractors, designers, consultants, and many more!

The Green Gifts Fair is a fun family event with an estimated attendance of over 6,000. Come car-less (and receive a free gift!) by downloading a Go Green Pass from Metro Transit at www.metrotransit.org.
